I have a question, is it possible, with existing modules, to do "automatic task creation"?
conditions of item:
Status is OPEN
Assigned To is filled
Project is filled
Requestor is filled
New task in right PROJECT witch right Assigned and Owner person
It was be a very usefull too us.
A creation of task must have notify in Item History

Will a future release have the functionality to attach a file to a help desk item? This would be very helpful for us.

There is work being done on attaching files to Help Desk items. I'm not sure what the current status of that is, but it will find its way into CVS at some point. As for automatic task creation, that is something that's still under discussion.

Do you know who was working on the file attachement for the Help Desk? I'm preparing to implement this over the next couple weeks. I didn't want to redo work if someone's already ahead of me.
This file attachment is a huge requirement for my shop. Please check that in if you have it...

Just to let you know, it will require changes to the Files module (sadly) which will break forwards compatibility with future dotProject versions. Hopefully, this will be resolved with the core development team sometime down the road.
I'll try to get those changes posted today.
Did ya get it posted? I don't care about future versions - as long as I can get one that works now. Typical... :P

I'm afraid I didn't get to it yesterday. The changes I made were done for a company and some of them are specific to their needs. When I update the CVS I want to be careful not to dump all their business specific stuff in their as well.
The modifications to the Files module will likely be released as a patch or seperate download.
By the way, which version of dP are you running? The latest helpdesk module only works with CVS versions since the middle of June (haven't tested it with the latest yet). If you're running 1.0.2, that will need to change first.

I am running 1.0.2 and a latest get from CVS. I am also trying to get better reporting out of the helpdesk. Any ideas where to look or I will just post a new topic?
None of that causes problems for me, thank you!

You might try the TimeCard module. It will need some tweaking, but it's a step in the right direction.

YOu don't want to get anything out of the CVS for now. It is considered UNSTABLE. See Karen's announcements for details.

I am working on the attachments. Unfortunately I now have so much stuff waiting to be checked in due to the massive changes to CVS that it will be a while longer before it gets checked in.
It on the way though....
