If I have three tasks that are overlaping, how do I link them together? If I make B&C dependent to A then, those tasks will begin on completion of A. I would like to slide the entire schedule forward if need be. Thanks. Great development, if I could accomplish this...it would be perfect.
Task A |------|
Task B .....|--------------|
Task C ................|-------------|

I believe you're looking for dependency tracking.

I am very familiar with task dependancy. However, as I mentioned these tasks overlap, meaning that B begins before A is finished, C begins before B is finished. When I change the date for A, I want all of the relative dates to change accordingly. Meaning, I want to maintain the overlap. For instance if I made B "task dependent" on A then there would be no overlap, task B would simply begin at the end of task A. Thanks

one problem is that in the gantt charts tasks do overlap when one ends at 5 pm and the next starts at that time. Is there a possibliity to get rid of the hours completly?

Dear 1025username,
I have started using dotproject recently and noticed the same case:
When Tasks whos Start Date relies on Dependent Tasks, the GANTT chart shows an overlap of time.
I have double checked the date and times and know that the dates and time are in serial (i.e. they do not overlap); however it appears that the GANTT chart does not show time periods less than a day. Therefore, regardless at what time a task is scheduled to start, the GANTT chart shows the task starting at the beginning of the day. The inverse is for completion dates/time => the task is shown to finish at the end of the day. Checking the dates and time show that dotproject calculates the dates and time correctly, but the GANTT chart is unable to show the information accurately. There must be a setting somewhere, but I have not looked for it.
Umm, maybe I should start another project and allocate time for this in dotproject ;)
Hope that helps even if it has been over 6 months since you posted.
