I wonder if any thought has been give to a facility that would allow an admin to predefine projects and tasks in dotproject2x.

In my business I find that projects consist of mostly the same tasks, in the same order, with the clients and deadlines being the elements that change frequently. If I had a library of projects that consisted of tasks in th eproper order, and a way to change deadlines and clients and could assign a new name to the project, I'd cut my project creation time way down.

Perhaps this is already part of the program, but I've not fount a way to do this yet.

Thanks,

Marc Sitkin

Hi Marc,

dP has a special separator for template projects exactly with this purpose.
So whenever you create a new project, you have an option "import tasks from" so that you can select a project (not only the templates but all are candidates for task importation) to import tasks from.
You will have to reset the dates for the tasks though.
But at least you will have a working skeleton.
I know, it is never has good as we wanted it to be, but in time this will be achieved.

Pedro A.Thank you for the fast reply. I found the option you described, and tried it, but I only seem to get the topmost parent task to import. Not sure what is happening to the children or dependant tasks. Is this a problem with the beta?

I just tested in the Demo here and it was working.
To say the truth I never tested the beta.
Demo is based on 2.0.1 so you should try that.
