I am would like a method for teaching people how to take advantage of the tool. If is difficult to get people to "try" their way around it. There are many powerful parts that are not intuitive at first and a simple demo of "use" would go a long way. The help system is highly lacking.

I deal with dozens of folks i have never met around the world and getting them to leave a message board like this one I am typing in now for the more robust and productive dotproject tool is difficult. They need to undertand the basics in 10 minutes. I can't just show them, i have to write it down.

I'm not quite sure what you are suggesting. Do you want to help out with documentation and training issues or are you wanting the core team to update the help system and come up with a training module? If the former, then fine, do some stuff, submit it and it is likely to be accepted. If the latter, then this will occur, but since we are in a major transition phase, the code must come first.

I have a commercial version of viewletcam. I use it to make flash based newbie tutorials for blender 3D. Give me a list of functions for tutorials, and I will send you flash tutorials on how to do it.

You'll see the dozen or so tutorial pages I created to walk that nonprofit's volunteers through the basics of dotProject. (HOBY puts on 70+ seminars for high school sophomores across the country. DotProject will dramatically help with each seminar's event planning.) Keep in mind the screenshots show dotProject as I customized it for HOBY.

I agree that having a simple tutorial for clients and sub-contractors explaining how to navigate the system and accomplish common tasks would be very helpful. My clients have been asking for a system like this but I'm afraid that I'll spend hours showing them how to use it!
