How to set users back to inactive?

Hi,
I just have the problem of how to set a user from ACTIVE to INACTIVE (project worker left) - I don't want to delete and maybe lose the history but the user shouldn't appear any more in drop-down-lists (task assignees) etc.

Just delete any roles associated with the user, this will move them to the Inactive Users list.
