Dear Friends,
I operate a small agribusiness project management company in China, doing Design/Build/Operate for agribusiness ventures nationwide. In the past we have used desktop versions of MS Project for project management documentation, with files exchanged by email for updates. With developments in four different provinces concurrently, this is fast becoming chaotic.
Microsoft charge like wounded bulls for Project Server here, and we would like a customisable, web-based product to work with. Ability to synchronise between desktop software on offline laptops and the server on a daily/twice daily basis would be great, as internet access in the countryside is sproradic.
Our staff need both English and Chinese interface, which dotproject seems to provide. We can host with a server in Hong Kong, which is pretty reliable.
While online support is great, it would be ideal if there was someone who could spend a couple of days "face time" with my staff to get them rolling.
Are there any Dotproject-experienced consultants in China or HK who can help us?
We plan to host the server software on Linux server in Hong Kong. Our desktops and notebooks mostly operate on Windows XP and Windows 2000, although we are introducing some Linux notebooks this year. Our ERP system is Compiere, which is open-source ERP and CRM, based on an Oracle database. I understand that Compiere will be available for MySQL soon, so we will probably migrate to that eventually, which would be nice for smooth integration with DotProject.
Thanks for your advice and assistance.
Best wishes
Simon
