View Full Version : v2 sucks

I had the last version of DP setup so that my customers could view their projects and all related project data. This was easy with the last version.

However it seems quite impossible with the v2.

Am I missing something?

If I am missing something please outline in detail how to get a project and all its data viewable by one person or a group of people. This means that user1 should be able to view project 1, project 1's files, message board, tasks, calendar, and not be able to define if user1 can write, read, modify or any combination of the above.

I enjoyed very much your thread title, so I am going to put you on my ignore list right away...

If you took your sunday to throw rocks I took mine to do something productive...

All other pratical situations, and yours, have been discussed in the forums, so DO TAKE THE TIME TO READ... or ... get back to your dP 1 system because it is marvelous.

By the way "please" and "thank you" are expressions much more enjoyed by people that may be willing to help.

Goodbye...

I resorted to saying that is sucks because I and others have posted -several- requests for help regarding the new permission system.

We don't want to limit access modules, we want to limit access to projects.

The new system seems to concentrate mostly on the modules, whereas most everyone doesnt care what modules (besides admin) are being seen. They care about what PROJECTS are being seen and then what the user can do to each part of the data within that project.

Your links say this:

"The only difference in setting up permissions at the role or at the user is that a role cannot limit down to item level (eg specific projects / companies etc). Permissions on roles can only be set up at the module level, for example:

A Project Worker might have access to Projects, Companies, Contacts, Tasks, Calendar and so on, whereas a Diary User might just have access to Contacts and Calendar. "

This doesnt help one bit on the question that everyone has -

How to get users to only access data on a project by project basis.

So much for a useful software package and helpful board.

I don't know why I'm bothering because frankly your attitude is why you aren't getting any help - nothing to do with this board in which the great majority of our participants are helpful and lovely people, but, had you bothered to think this through Pedroa gave you the required answer. You adjust individual company / project permission via User Admin > Permissions tab. For example if we wanted to set up permissions for different projects at the role I give them access to the Projects Module, at the permissions level for the individual user I nominate the particular permissions I wish to apply to the individual project(s). Alternatively I might do it via Company if that makes more sense.

In the meantime I would appreciate it if you would moderate your language. A subject line of "v2 sucks" is unnecessary.
